Special Agent James Lugo joined the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) during June of 2005. SA Lugo’s initial post of duty was the Buffalo Resident Office from January 2006 until August of 2008. During August of 2008, SA Lugo transferred to the New York City Office of DEA where he served as member of the El Dorado Task Force until December of 2017. During December of 2017, SA Lugo transferred to the New Haven District Office (NHDO) and is currently still assigned at this post of duty with the NHDO Task Force Group. In his time with DEA, SA Lugo has participated in a myriad of training to include Evidence Custodian School, Advanced Internet Exploitation, Digital Evidence Handling, Surveillance Photography, Field Training Agent and Public Information Officer School. Prior to joining DEA, SA Lugo was a Manchester Police Officer Recruit but left the department to accept his current position with DEA. Additionally, from June of 2002 until March of 2005, SA Lugo was a Special Agent with the Defense Security Service which is a branch under the umbrella of the Department of Defense. As for his educational background, SA Lugo is an undergraduate of Marist College where he studied Communications and Psychology. After attaining his Bachelor’s Degree, SA Lugo studied at the University of New Haven where he earned his Masters of Science in Forensic Science with concentrations in Fire Science and Advanced Investigation.
